Special Power of Attorney / Affidavit
Documents executed by Filipinos for use in the Philippines may be notarized by authorized officers of the Manila Economic and Cultural Office. Such documents include affidavits for submission to various offices in the Philippines, Special Powers of Attorney (SPA) or authorization letters allowing a representative in the Philippines to process transactions on behalf of the Filipino in Taiwan and copy certifications of valid Philippine Passports.

Documents executed by Filipinos for use in the Philippines may be notarized by authorized officers of the Manila Economic and Cultural Office. Driver's License / NBI Fingerprinting
Filipinos holding a valid Philippine Driver’s License may have their license cards verified with the Manila Economic and Cultural Office in Taipei, Taichung, or Kaohsiung. Should they intend to have their Philippine Driver’s License converted to an equivalent Taiwan Driver’s License, interested Filipinos are reminded to inquire with their nearest Taiwan Motor Vehicle Office as regards the process and requirements for conversion prior to visiting any MECO office.

REPORT OF BIRTH *Children born in Taiwan to at least one (1) Filipino parent are Filipinos. Their birth should be reported through the Manila Economic and Cultural Office for onward transmittal to the relevant government agencies in the Philippines. Reporting and registration accord the Filipino child status and personality under Philippine laws. REPORT OF MARRIAGE *Through reporting and registration, the marriage is recognized in the Philippines and the contracting parties effectively change their legal status from single to married under Philippine laws. REPORT OF DEATH *The death of a Filipino in Taiwan should be reported through the Manila Economic and Cultural Office for onward transmittal to the relevant government agencies in the Philippines. On the other hand, a mortuary certificate is required when the remains or cremated remains of the deceased are to be shipped to the Philippines.

Renunciation of Philippine Citizenship / Re-Acquisition or Retention of Philippine Citizenship
RENUNCIATION OF PHILIPPINE CITIZENSHIP Filipinos who are interested to apply for naturalization are required by Taiwan to renounce their original citizenship. After taking the oath of renunciation, the applicant is no longer a Filipino and effectively divests the rights and privileges that come with holding Philippine citizenship. After having been naturalized as a Taiwan national, s/he may re-acquire his/her Philippine citizenship through the process of re-acquisition under R.A. No. 9225. RE-ACQUISITION OR RETENTION OF PHILIPPINE CITIZENSHIP Under R.A. No. 9225, otherwise known as the Citizenship Retention and Re-Acquisition Act of 2003, natural-born Filipinos who have been naturalized as Taiwanese nationals or citizens of a foreign country may retain or re-acquire their Philippine citizenship.
